My neighbor always gives us an advent calendar. My husband must have brought in this year's calendar from the doorstep. Wyatt found it and opened up all of the little windows. I guess that is good for hand-eye coordination! He fed me several pieces of chocolate before I got a bowl for him. He doesn't like chocolate.

I can remember doing the same thing when I was a kid - only I ate all the Chocolate. Even though my mom would tell me that "they'll be no more calendars bought," I still couldn't wait. So, I wound up not having any chocolate for the rest of advent. This did make it easier later on to grasp the concept of Lent (the period before Easter when Catholics are supposed to abstain from such things as chocolate).
My son, on the other hand, never really "got into" his advent calendars. He didn't much like chocolate either and after a couple of days usually just lost interest in it completely. Sometime after Christmas I would find the thing in his room with only a couple of opened doors... So, just to prove I haven't changed much since I was a kid, I would ask my son if he minded (which he didn't) and then promptly open all the doors and eat the chocolate up so it didn't go to waste. Instead, it all went to MY waist - lol.
