Flagfest Day

This is Flagfest weekend here in Spencer. I took Michael to the parade. He had a hard time staying close before it started. Then when they threw candy they tossed to groups on both sides and he did not get any. That almost caused a huge melt-down. He took off going to get the car. I finally got him really going and he had fun.

There was supposed to be a petting zoo, but due to the horrid flooding aroud Iowa, they were forced to evacuate or something and could not come up. That was a little disappointing.

I have actually been talking to a pretty nice guy the last few days. It feels good to get some attention. Somebody who actually wants to talk to me whenever he can. But of course there is a little warning sign going up in my mind. Why is this guy still single, there must be something I do not know going on. I am not saying I want to correct the single status just right now.

Blogging and Social Networking Webinars

I have been toying with the idea of having a weekly webinar to help people with blogging and social networking. It wouldn't necessarily be a discussion about autism; it would cover blogging best practices, social networking and how to use the site. Just the basics to help people get a better understanding of how this stuff works.

It would be a weekly ongoing thing, at a set day and time every week and you could join in if you want or simply ignore it if you are not interested. I would use Webex, which allows you to see my screen, and there would be a conference call that everyone could dial into for questions, etc. This would all be provided free of charge.

I run a few other social networking sites, so there would be people from other niches on the webinars as well. If I get enough positive responses I will put this together.

Would anyone here be interested in anything like that?

Two More Ways to Help

When posting information to Autism Blogger, there are two simple things you can do to greatly improve where your posts will show up in the search engines. Yes, this information does come up on Google. If you type in "Autism Blog" on Google this site is number one!! We rank number one for several other terms as well, which is huge.

  • Category - Select a category for your post. This will keep information organized and it will help others quickly find information. This will also help the search engines identify what your post is about.  Every type of content has categories to select from. You can put items into multiple categories if you wish.
  • Meta Tags - Sounds like something geeky and scary, but it's not. A meta tag just tells the search engines what your post is about. You can enter multiple words seperated by a comma (autism, asd, autistic, pdd). Every type of content has a spot where you can enter meta tags.

These two small steps will really help the search engines as well as other members find your content, and if more people find your content, more people will become members.

TGIF!

Daddy left for work. Marcel hopped back into bed so it's just me & Elsie.

Im so glad it's Friday even if we do have a busy weekend ahead. Marcel

has an appointment with his developmental doctor, Dr Fierro tomorrow

morning. Normally we wouldnt go on a Saturday but Dr Fierro had a family

emergency the other day when we were supposed to go in. We're going to

discuss medication. So anyway then we need to go look at a rental house for

our frends Theola and Richard who'll be moving here next month from California.

He's a clinical psychologist. He was Charles Mansons psychologist at Corcoran

prison for four years. Very interesting guy Richard. And Theola is kinda wacky like

me lol. Anyway they'll be here for about five days house and job hunting, then they'll

go back and pack their storage pod then actually move here end of June. ANYWAY

Wyattsmom have a wonderful vacation. Drive careful. Buckle up. I'll get to y'all when

I can. (( hugs )) Cindy

How do you afford all of this?

I am new to this blog and desperate for help. I was wondering if anyone out there has ever tried the cfgf diet. If so how did you afford it in these times! We struggle paycheck to paycheck buying regular food, much less specialized organic etc. Any advice would be appreciated!

My 5th grader's letter to his class about Autism

Hello. I am the very proud mom of Patrick Costello who has Autism. He decided to write a letter to his 5th grade class at the close of this year. I was unaware of this letter. To my surprise his aide Bonnie sent home a copy for me. I can only say that I am proud beyond words! We have spoken very honestly in our home about Autism and I had always hoped that it would help him to understand himself & what he needs in this world. My hope in sharing a piece of our private world is that you will be inspired to see such an amazing young man! We all have struggles daily and uphill battles on a regular basis... stop & please read this!
