Autism Spectrum Disorders

rrieske's picture

Autism Spectrum Disorders include a lot more than just the stereotypical Autistic individual. Many individuals with Autism, Aspergers, High Functionin Autism, and other areas on the spectrum have fluent verbal skills. In fact many Asperger's and High Functioning Autistics have above average vocabulary. I have 3 brothers all on the spectrum. One completely non-verbal, one with average verbal skills, and one with well above average vocab. So the statement "children with autism dont have fluent language skills" is indeed false.

I agree, I think "autism"

I agree, I think "autism" and "fluent language skills" is a conflict of terms.
