What do you like to do when you are trying not to think about IEP goals, vacuuming that could be done, and a rash that has broken out on your hands and face that the doctor says is stress-induced? One of my favorite things to do is read novels because they really take me away from my little world for a while, they are quiet, and they are easy to set aside for a moment to deal with a monumental crisis like a certain someone wanting a juice box RIGHT NOW. Another top favorite pastime of mine is sweepstaking. Seriously, it is a curious blend of soothing repetitive typing and daydreaming about who in the world I would give a used NASCAR tire or a manual breastpump to if I were the lucky winner, both of which I actually did win! Out of dozens of fabulous freebies that have come my way, the best things I've won have been a $400 vacuum and a Gameboy, and the most recent thing was a full size basketball. I had gone off my sweeps habit around the holidays but when the basketball arrived it reminded me of all that I've been missing. That's the thing about sweeps--you could have entered something literally years ago and then one day something completely unexpected and absolutely, gloriously free is waiting for you in your mailbox. It really is better than chocolate, I mean, unless it is free, high-quality chocolate and lots of it.

I also love to read. I used
I also love to read. I used to be able to pop out severasl books in a week, now even with Michael in school it feels as if my mind is always elsewhere. I love to write, and claim someday I will have a series of children's books out there, but again, with Michael I lost the main drive that made me push for it. About the only thing I still get to do and have the strongest passion for is graphic design. I even have a small handful amount available for sale, but nothing thus far...

Me, too! At least about the kid's books but at this point I am only aspiring to something laminated and bound at Staples and sold on ebay, or given away in a free download somewhere. I'm working on a series of semi anotomically correct potty-time drawings. If I ever finish them and if they help Wyatt then I will share them with other parents. While I have lots of creative ideas, my craftsmanship and actual artistic ability are only average. I've been bidding on technical pens on ebay because I don't know what happened to mine from a graphic design class I took like a century ago. I'd kind of like to do a pen and ink or watercolor and pen look.
Seeing your incredible art made me feel about a hundred years old :) because I had never heard of deviantart before. It was very cool to see it--it is so evocative. I'm still processing the novelty of it in my head. I like the marbling, the organic shapes, the color moods, the whimsy, and the weird way it reminded me of those documentaries that illustrate hormones and feelings as bright bursts of color on black backgrounds, like when you close your eyes after looking at a light source. In that way, the art reminds me of a freeze-frame of a single raw feeling in a paralell universe somewhere out there. Okay, I'm waxing on and on, arent' I? It also made me think of Fantasia, which I recently saw for the first time. Have you seen the anniversary version and the commentary at the end?
In art class, during critique, we could introduce our work and talk it up. So one time I went on and on about what I was going for with this one assignment. At the end, this guy said, "Wow, that is so cool. If only you could make it look like that." Well, that was humbling. I guess I'm a writer then.

My art is all digital... And I had never heard of deviantart a year ago...
Sometimes we all need a little bit of goals or escape from the stress. Even if everything does not come to be, it is nice to get our minds off of the reality.
Hey Shootingstars, can I ask
Hey Shootingstars, can I ask you if you know how many artworks are in your gallery? Why do you only have a few for sale as prints when you have created so many others? If someone were to request one that isn't in your store, would you consider it? How did you hear about deviantart?
I must seem really bored to you, but I'm just all into the blog thing right now since it is new to me! I'm going to reply to Admin about help with the RSS Feed Reader stuff next. Next week I'm going to spend a lot more time on my sweeps 'cause yesterday I won a $42 pair of flip flops with interchangable Velcro straps from parents.com, so now I am psyched to sweep--the only bad thing is I have to give the shoes to my friend because I have enormously wide feet and the free flops won't fit me.
Well I currently have 151. I
Well I currently have 151. I guess I just put the ones I really have alot of pride in. Or those that seem to get alot of attention. If somebody requested a print, I would definately add it to the prints. Since my computer is not in the newest shape I only create them about wallpaper side, so when I make them available for print the largest size available is 8x10. What is sad is it is cheaper for me to order a print of my own work and pay shipping that it would be to send them to Wal-Mart to print or print themselves myself. They are not bad quality. I ordered a print for my mother's Christmas present. Out of regular sales, I only get a handful of change per sale, but just selling one would spike me out.
I found out about deviantArt through another forum I was involved with. I found a program called Paint.Net which is a much more advanced version of MS Paint. It is getting more and more advanced and popular. On the forum for the program he creator/owner actually talks to us and uses our suggestions and program tweaks in his latest versions. Anyways alot of the other users use deviantArt to host their graphics.
Do not feel bad about being bored. I feel it. While Michael is in school I go stir crazy. Sometimes even when he is home and will not play with me, I go nuts. I hate being stuck inside.
