Ok very odd title, but hear me out, when you really think about this, and I mean sit down and ponder, scratching your head, mindlessly eating a bag of potato chips, totally blocking out the world thought, you willl see that I am correct.
I have been looking for tattoo ideas. After Christmas my heating assistance should kick in and that saves me a bill for several months. So my budget allows for a few extra savings and such. Plus I am getting a 30 dollar check from Inbox Dollars late January, so February I can splurge on myself a little. Well I want something that captures who I am. Only Eeyore, penguins, and such are cheesy. I love stars but they are over done and cannot find something unique to capture ME. Well I was thinking about a phoenix. They endure something terrible (a fiery death) and imerge something beautiful. I thought about my childhood and such and the judgements of others (ok mainly my baby daddy family drama) and thinking I am coming out ok. Well then I saw a flame design. Just the fire and thought of the song by Garth Brooks Standing Outside the Fire (if you do not know the meaning of the song, I posted it here in Videos or you can You-Tube it). Well I am inside the fire, I know what all this is about. My eyes have been opened to so much with the journey Michael has taken me down. Not only for Autism, but the thoughts about other special needs labels that can be placed on our children. Down Syndrome, Autism, everything takes a parent willing to walk on coals for their kids.
So that got me thinking more. Especially with another design I found. ASD parents are the phoenix. The diagnosis (or even the pre-everything) is the fiery death we endure. And then we slowly rise up beyond that pain, accepting it as we must and go on to try to make our lives as beautiful as possible.
Perhaps I need a hobby. But that is how I see it. Now of only whomever thought up the first phoenix design made the bird a little prettier... Then again I do not always have my graceful lovely days either.
The following design is what inspired this spew of nonsense yet whimsicle thought.

It would not play for me... All that loaded was the Gain commercial :(
I was watching a show about Celebrity Tattoo. It talked about how it has become acceptable, and had some spotlights on some of the extreme inks, and even those that are the scratch your head type.
I like watching shows like LA Ink and such, but when it comes to attractiveness, my eye is not turned by a inked up guy. I think a few in moderation is fine, but it is getting a little scary the people who ink top to bottom.

It features a chain of tattoo shops that are springing up in malls everywhere. One such shop is in view of a Bloomingdales. They interviewed the owner of the chain and he said, basically, that tattoos are now for everyone and do not carry the image of rebellious teenagers and motorcycle gangs so much as personal expression and artistry. They showed a chunky 39 yr old teacher getting a tattoo of a celtic design on her foot. They interviewed a hip looking tattoo artist and asked him how he felt about working in a posh mall. He shrugged and said he loves what he does and he appreciates the pay and the health insurance for himself, his wife and his child. Then they interviewed customers in a traditional ink shop in a rough New York neighborhood. The muscular male customers sort of scoffed at the idea of going to a glitzy shopping mall for a tattoo. It was fun to see the contrast in shops!

We have two shops here in town. One has been doing this for ages, he started out in his basement then finally was able to open his own shop. He looks like a old biker man. When I got mine done we were talking about people he used to have working for him and those he fired. Turns out the other artist in town is one he had fired. He could recommend where else to go and where not to go in Iowa. I would never go to a little mall shop, I would rather go somewhere established (even if it started out with a clientele of bikers and gangers) and by an older artist who knows what he is doing as opposed to some young thing who can doodle with a pencil so decided to try it with a gun.

I just clinked on the link and it immediately started playing the video piece - no commercial at all. Go figure.
Well this is not a design I
Well this is not a design I am thinking of really going with, it is just what inspired the odd thoughts. I could steal the design and get it done, but I would rather have the permission of the artist.
I am thinking of just a simple flame design, to represent standing inside the fire. My next tatt is going on the inside of my leg above the ankle, so I am a little limited with space and designs. I want it small, because I am still a wuss with the whole thing. When I lose some weight and would be more likely to run around in a tank then I may get something pretty on my shoulder blade... Of course that is considering a job and higher income comes along with with a better figure LOL
I just like the idea of comparing myself to something with strength and mystery. It makes it a little easier to swallow everything.
Cool but OUCH OUCH OUCH!!!!

I like the gradations of color in the flames, but I would suggest making the bird more of a brown, also lightening toward the tips of the wings. It'll go better with your hair.
