If I won the lottery I would either buy and remodel an old farm house or build one. Depending on which is cheaper. I want four bedrooms.
A master bedroom with a bathroom. I would have one of the huge clawfoot tubs, or a sunken tub with ledges for candles. I would have a california king sized bed, or maybe a round pedastal bed.
Michael's bedroom would be simple, a big bed for him, his dressers, posters all over the walls, and any other small furniture he needs.
Another room will be set up as a play and therapy room. Michael would have a wall built of shelves with bins for blocks, pluzzles, and other learning things. I would have a large table in the center of the room for him to play or work at. One wall I would have from top to bottom the whiteboard material, with suction cup marker/eraser holders. The other walls would be painted a light blue so that they would be distingushable and so he would know not to draw on them.
The last room would be all mine of course. I would have one computer set up, a desktop most likely with the photo printers and an engraving machine. I would keep the colors cool, as I seem to be most inspired in colder settings. Dark blues and burgandys. I would also have a book shelf, and perhaps a comfy loveseat in there for reading.
I would keep my furniture very casual. Over-stuffed couched and chairs. A big huge wooden table, even though it would just be me and Michael. My kitchen I would modernize if possible. I would want a dishwasher of course. If possible I would have a center bar for preparing things and double as a breakfast bar. Of course I would have a larger indoor George Foreman and definately keep my Pizzazz.
I would want the main bathroom darker. I like dark toilets and such rather than the white. Maybe a marble counter top, since this would mainly be guest and Michael's bathroom, things would be kid friendly.
If there is not a laundry room on the main floor (if the house has a basement) I would add one on. My tailbone likes to protest stairs, and I have always been uneasy with basements.
Of course no dream is not complete without several acres, a corral with several beautiful horses, and a great big barn. I would design a chicken coop with a large run (fenced in of course) that is friendly to the eye, but effective. I might even raise rabbits, and have a run for them in the Spring and Summer.
As you can tell, I like to dream big.

Great topic! Of course, if
Great topic! Of course, if you asked me a three years ago or three years from now, my "dream house" and lotto spending ideas wouldn't be the same. Also, I suppose if I won like 10 million dollars my dream would include a lot of family travel to cool places like Alaska and other states I haven't been to yet, Canada, Australia/NZ, Europe, Japan, and South America, etc.
Dream houses... well, four
Dream houses... well, four bedrooms does sound like a good number, for the main part of the residence. But what about a granny flat for your Mom? I think I would want a guest house.
If I had a million dollars, I would actually probably buy a modest older home with a big yard because Marc likes to garden. Then, I would have lots of custom made cabinets, cases, closets, cool windows, and solar panels on the roof. And every single one of my cabinet, cases, and closets would have a lock. My house would be Fort Knox, 100% impervious to little autistic fingers getting into things.
Hopefully, I would have a lot of money left over. With the rest of the money, I would establish a Special Needs Trust for Wyatt. Then, I would hire a private teacher who would help Wyatt reach his full potential instead of spending my time and energy wrangling with the school district. I would systematically try many biomedical and alternative autism treatments that I am not even thinking about now.
I would buy investment property, if I could. I would make it my business to find out if anyone in my extended family was enduring any hardships that I could help ease. And I would try to find little ways to help other ASD kids and their parents directly, ways that I could be sure wouldn't be donating to a charity CEO's corporate jet.
Okay I have to chime in here
Okay I have to chime in here (you know me). If I had a million
dollars first of all I would consult my brother who knows how
to safely save & invest. I'd make sure Marcels future was
secure. Uh daddy would quit work obviously. I'd buy a bigger
home closer to my brother and sister in law where the
real money in this town is. I'd want four bedrooms plus a
for lack of a better term "maids quarters" so we could have
a live in to assist me & help teach Marcel. Oh & I'd buy the
biggest damn flat screen available and have a really cool
theatre with comfy seating so we can watch the SPURS games
woo hoo lol!
