After reams of paperwork, it seems we've been approved for Medi-Cal. Woo hoo! We got a notification of approval in the mail today. Hopefully we can begin using Medi-Cal soon to get prescription diapers, plus pay some medical co-pays. I'm not entirely sure what else Medi-Cal covers.
Yesterday we had a big meeting with our local Regional Center. We were approved for four more hours of respite per month, which brings us up to 16. I know other people get a lot more, but I think 16 is going to work well for us right now. We always use the time to go out and about, so four more hours per month equals about one extra "date." We will spend money on food and entertainment during that date. So really, getting more respite hours can create additional expenses unless you discipline yourself to do something good for you like take a bike ride.
Also at the meeting they agreed not to reduce our "life skills" hours which are currently at 6 hours per week. However, they stressed that they are restructuring our program so that the tutors will basically be my mentors. I think the plan is that these hours will end when Wyatt is 5, but I'm not positive.
Ahhhhrg! I just broke my washing machine again. Gotta call Sears. Good thing we have a warranty.

Congrats on the medical.
Congrats on the medical. You're in California right? Our friends that are moving
here, Richard Mamula he started the regional centers in California.
This my friend Theolas second husband. He's a clinical psychologist. To get the
diapers just make an appt with your sons doctor and have him write the script or
he'll just contact the pharmacy. Here in SA its Davila Pharmacy that handles diapers.
You should get two packs of diaper wipes, a mess of pull ups and chucks, you know the
pad you put underneath when you've got a big mess. That'll save you alot of money!!
Thanks! Got an appt for
