Hi,
I would love to share this incredible inspiring video with everyone. The video is on Laura who fully recovered from autism using the Son-Rise Program! This is just an amazing story about what love can accomplice

"incurable" is not "will
"incurable" is not "will never lead a normal life" These are two different things.
I would point out though, that by neurotypical standards, 12 is WAY too soon to declare "Mission Accomplished victory".
I see both of these "recovered" people as being still autistic. Higher functioning to be sure. But not autistic at all?
There's a difference between using coping skills, and being cured- and I hate it when companies lie to the public about a "cure" for autism.
Besides Laura, there are a
Besides Laura, there are a lot of other examples of children with autism that fully recovered. One amazing example is the story of the current CEO of the Autism Treatment Center of America Raun Kaufman. He himself was once severely autistic: http://youtu.be/3Zpfz5ubUtU and http://youtu.be/J8uJ5RpQWw0.
It might be good to know that the Autism Treatment Center of America is not a 'company' but it is part of The Option Institute which is a nonprofit, federally tax-exempt, charitable organization.
Finally, the Son-Rise Program won Best Therapy in a category including ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) and RDI (Relationship Development Intervention) at the AutismOne National Conference: http://www.autismtreatmentcenter.org/contents/getting_started/autism1.php
This does not change my
This does not change my complaint that "fully recovered" in any therapy program is a very subjective term that has no possibility of objective measurement, and that in most cases, all ABA therapy, RDI therapy, or the Son-Rise program have taught children to do is lie and act "normal" enough to appear curred, while actually INCREASING the stress they live with every day.
Just because you've eliminated a stimming behavior, or given a child enough self-control to avoid a meltdown, does NOT mean you've eliminated the stress from their lives that caused the stimming and meltdowns to begin with.
And in that, claiming "full recovery" would amount to little more than a scam on parents who are desparate for a cure.
I have NO doubt that the Son-Rise program, along with those other therapies, does indeed reduce, and even sometimes eliminate, the *visible to neurotypicals* symptoms of being autistic. But unless you've found a way to do brain surgery, and rebuild the missing connections between the left and right brain, this ain't no cure. At best, it's like the therapies used with stroke patients that teach another part of the brain to take over the missing functionality.
This fully depends on where
This fully depends on where you're coming from. Within the Son-Rise program, autism is not considered to be a brain dysfunction but a pervasive developmental disorder.
In other words, you're only
In other words, you're only concentrating on the symptom (the developmental disorder) rather than the cause (whatever caused the behavior to begin with- such as chronic pain, the MRIs showing fewer connections between the hemispheres, heavy metal poisoning, or whatever they come up with next).
Which is why I say you can't claim "full recovery from autism"- because you're only concentrating on the symptoms, not on the disease.
I'll admit readily that ABA therapy and RDI therapy and what I've read of the Son-Rise program have helped me with my symptoms. But the cost of denying my nature to appear more normal is 12 hours of sleep a night or migraines, depending on my schedule. It takes a lot of energy to maintain the false face I have to to live in neurotypical society. And unless you start addressing the causes (like I do with perscription dark glasses and noise canceling headphones; or like they did with my nephew with biochemical cures for his heavy metal poisoning), you stand NO chance at actually reducing the stress.
And even then, I've yet to find a cure that was 100%. At most, maybe, 90%-95%. Which in our capitalistic society is good enough; competence in a chosen obsession can hide the rest.
I'm sorry to hear that you
I'm sorry to hear that you experience these difficulties in you life. I did not intend to offend you and I hope I didn't. However I do belief that the Son-Rise has great potential.
As quoted of there site: For some, this means complete recovery. For others, this means improvements in their child's development, human connection, communication, skill acquisition and quality of life far beyond what most would have ever predicted.
" For others, this means
" For others, this means improvements in their child's development, human connection, communication, skill acquisition and quality of life far beyond what most would have ever predicted."
And that is the believeable part. Hit that, and your advertising will be more honest- and in an industry where, let's face facts, quacks outnumber real therapists about 4:1, I'm willing to bet you'll reach more children. Which is the point, isn't it?
Leave the "full recovery" stuff to the quacks for now. What you do have, for sure, is valuable and life-changing to a child who gets it early enough.
I wasn't diagnosed until 30. My brain was set in stone by then. I will NEVER "recover"- but I can arrange my life to be comfortable for me.
