As I recall, middle school
As I recall, middle school was probably one of the toughest times (Bullies run rampant it seems at that age, so I think that middle school is something that is difficult for many kids, autistic or not.) However, it was in middle school when more "options" were introduced into the curriculum that my son found out he enjoyed band. Ahough he had lots of trouble reading and writing was actually quite normal at reading music. It gave him a sense of accomplishment that he really never experienced before then.
I agree!!! Plus, I do think
I agree!!! Plus, I do think that music is so powerful for our children but is under-utilized. I think/hope/pray that we will see more music options being offered to ASD kids. I've had Wyatt in music since he was 3 -- well, I guess that was only just last year, but still... :)
I don't think my entry into
I don't think my entry into middle school was seamless. :) What, more specifically, are you dealing with? Even though my son is only 4 1/2, I would be interested in preparing for the future as much as possible.
