i read an article about autism.and it said that autistic kids have a higher level of seretonin and a "normal" person has a lower level.as the autisctic child grows the seretonin levels rise but in a "normal" person as they grow it declines.is there any medication to make the seretonin levels decline,or any treatment?

Where did you read this about serotonin? The only medications I know of that alter the serotonin level have horrible side effects, except 5-HTP. Still, I'm not sure about playing with brain chemicals. Serotonin supposedly decreases appetite, and my daughter's appetite was permanently increased by one of the serotonin "re-uptake" meds. Go figure!

well i have a brother with autism and i read that on google. so i decided to ask about it.but his appetite has decreased so much because of the medication he takes to control his behavior. but we are going to ask our neurologist more about that. thanks anyways:)
